Paradigm Shift, the third full length album from Project 7, takes Dan back towards his rock roots on tracks such as “The Core” and “Kaleidoscope”, but still treats us to some fine progressive rock with songs “Redemption” and “Paradigm Shift”. Lots of time signature changes and key signature changes take us through eight original compositions and yet another cover tune, this time, “Theme from an Imaginary Western”, the beautiful ballad written by Cream bassist Jack Bruce and most known by the version from the group Mountain with guitarist Leslie West. The album ends with “Footprints”, a short but emotionally strong ballad, showing Dan can not only rock, but has the depth of a true artist, using sound as his canvas.
